The Role
As the Head of Quality at ClearSpace, you will be responsible for setting and advancing the company's quality standards, ensuring every mission and product meets the highest safety, reliability, and performance requirements. You will oversee all Product and Quality Assurance (PA/QA) activities-from design collaboration and risk management to investigative reviews during AIV phases-driving process improvements, securing industry certifications, and embedding a culture of excellence. We are looking for a hands-on person, who is comfortable developing strategy but is also willing to get into the details of our programs. As Clearspace grows, you will be responsible for building and leading the Quality team at ClearSpace.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with the company vision, ensuring industry-leading standards across all programs and operations.
- Build and maintain ClearSpace's Quality Management System (QMS) covering all aspects of the business.
- Lead and grow a high-performing quality team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Design, implement, and refine quality assurance processes to support mission-critical engineering, manufacturing, and operational activities.
- Provide Product Assurance and Quality Assurance (PA/QA) support to our company programs, providing guidance throughout all project phases from initial planning to launch and operations.
- Maintain and monitor the "ClearSpace Standards" - the set of requirements guiding how ClearSpace develops and delivers missions - ensuring they address the needs of diverse customers, including institutional and commercial clients.
- Take the lead in identifying, initiating, and implementing process improvements across the full company to enhance efficiency, consistency, and overall performance.
- Maintain relevant industry certifications, such as ISO9001 and EN9100, positioning ClearSpace as a benchmark in the in-orbit servicing sector.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to anticipate potential challenges, proactively resolve issues, and embed robust risk management practices.
- Champion compliance and regulatory adherence, ensuring every mission and product consistently meets the highest safety, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Establish and maintain dynamic feedback mechanisms, facilitating cross-team learning and sharing of best practices.
- Represent the quality function internally and externally, upholding ClearSpace's reputation for innovation and assurance in the emerging in-orbit servicing industry.
Must Have
- Extensive quality assurance experience in the space sector.
- Proven leadership in managing quality standards, process improvements, and regulatory compliance for space missions.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (e.g., ISO9001, EN9100).
- Direct involvement in design, manufacture, and qualification of spaceflight hardware.
- Expertise in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Ability to interpret and apply standards (e.g., ECSS).
- Experience in writing technical documentation.
- Experience in supplier management and company-wide risk management.
- Experience in leading teams.

Education
• BSc or equivalent degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related field
