Monmouthshire County Council is seeking to appoint someone to lead our planning service at what is an incredibly exciting time. We are recruiting a new Head of Planning with responsibility for the Planning Policy and Development Management teams.

We are seeking a dynamic, charismatic and outcome-focused leader with excellent communication skills to head up this important and highly contested service area. As a Chartered Town Planner, you will act as professional advisor to the Council, helping to ensure that planning makes a full contribution to the economic, social, environmental and cultural well-being of Monmouthshire's communities.

You will play a lead role in major development schemes and public engagements and will represent the Council in partnerships and at national/regional fora. You will motivate, empower and develop the skills of a friendly and hard-working team as well as playing a proactive role in community engagement to seek to identify and support local priorities and regeneration aspirations.

SALARY - IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Salary would be pro rata if not working full time hours or 52 weeks per year.
i.e. 37 hours per week / 32.5 per week for School Teachers

Location: County Hall (Rhadyr - Usk), NP15 1GA, United Kingdom. This may change in the future if the service location needs to relocate. Relocation or disturbance expenses will not be paid if this happens.
