Job Description

We are currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation, which is recruiting for an Interim Head of People Partnering, UK on 6-month fixed term contract. The role involves hybrid working, with up to 2 days working from home, and requires regular travel to sites across the UK. The salary is between £67,000 - £77,500 per annum.

The successful candidate will lead a transformational change agenda across the People Partnering function and act as a trusted strategic adviser to senior stakeholders. Our client is looking for an established senior HR or People Partnering leader with a demonstrable track record of transforming and optimising a partnering function within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Duties will include:

  • Leading and delivering a transformation plan for the People Partnering function, with clear milestones for the interim period
  • Leading, coaching and developing three People or Business Partners supporting Professional Services, Student Services and Academic teams
  • Acting as a strategic adviser to senior stakeholders on organisational design, workforce planning and change management
  • Reviewing team structure, capacity, coverage, priorities and ways of working to improve the effectiveness of the partnering model
  • Using workforce data and insight to identify trends, risks and opportunities and translate them into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex or sensitive people matters, including employee relations, restructuring and TUPE
  • Building trusted relationships with senior leaders and working closely with reward, talent, learning and development, and employee relations colleagues
  • Establishing strategy and structure for the HR Business Partner team

Experience required:

  • Significant senior HR or People Partnering leadership experience
  • A proven record of delivering transformation and optimisation within a People Partnering function
  • Experience leading and developing a small team of senior People or Business Partners
  • Strong generalist HR expertise across organisational design, workforce planning, employee relations and change management
  • Strong change leadership, facilitation and coaching capability
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to provide expert guidance on complex employee relations, restructuring and TUPE matters

Working hours:

  • Full time, 37 hours per week
  • Hybrid working, 2 days work from home
