Job Description

This role works across the NHS Alliance to support the growth of the income pipeline, developing newcommercial opportunities, across the wider portfolio of NHS Alliance activities including, EnglishMember Offer projects, longer-term partnerships, the leadership and improvement space, consultancyand more. The role delivers on the strategy set by the Assistant Director Partnerships and works withcolleagues across the organisation, leading the shaping and designing of new commercial opportunities,then incubating them until they go live and become BAU.

The Head of New Partnerships is accountable for the growth, development and management of theNHS Alliance New Partnerships sub-team alongside the Partnerships and Sponsorship and StrategicPolicy Partnerships sub-teams. This role has a proactive focus, working to ensure that income targetsare met or exceeded, contracts agreed and delivered on time and on budget. The highest level ofcustomer service is offered to our partners.

This role has regular travel for team meetings and events, both those that we are delivering and toexternal events, which present excellent opportunities to build new relationships and develop existingones to support the development of a strong pipeline, to enable the NHS Alliance to be a financiallysustainable and effective organisation.

Main duties of the job

As the Head of New Partnerships, you will:

  • lead the delivery of a strong new business pipeline, securing partnerships and achieving income targets aligned to organisational priorities.
  • identify, shape and launch new commercial opportunities, taking ideas from concept through to delivery and embedding them into ongoing activity.
  • build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships, acting as a key external representative and ensuring high-quality partner experience.
  • manage and develop the New Partnerships team, supporting performance, and a results-focused culture.
  • work collaboratively across teams to ensure joined-up delivery and smooth transition from sales to delivery.
Job responsibilities
  • Deliver the new business plan across the NHS Alliance's commercial portfolio, as set by the Assistant Director Partnerships, ensuring income targets are met/exceeded and deadlines areachieved.
  • Line manage the New Partnerships team on a day-to-day basis and take responsibility for theirlong-term development and support, using organisational systems, including regular 121s,personal development plans and appraisals, as well as leading weekly team meetings, includingmeeting as a team in-person at least once a month
  • Represent the NHS Alliance at key events and conferences across England, Wales and NorthernIreland to build and strengthen relationships that generate a strong new-business pipeline andsupport organisational sustainability.
  • Relationships act as first point of contact for a broad range of commercial clients; build trustedrelationships, convert opportunities, and ensure effective internal handover once business issecured. Maintain strong internal relationships to align commercial activity with financial and nonfinancialobjectives.
  • Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities; manage proposals and contracts through theCRM/Sales Hub pipeline; secure income; produce sales collateral and contracts; and work withfinance to raise invoices promptly (ensuring the team does the same). Provide regular progressupdates in weekly meetings.
  • Ensure that you and the team regularly attend in-person external in-person events andconferences, covering the full range of key opportunities across England, Wales and NorthernIreland, to build new relationships and develop existing ones to support the development of astrong pipeline, to enable the NHS Alliance to be a financially sustainable and effectiveorganisation.
  • Provide business development support to new products and services the NHS Alliance developssuch as the Evolve Collaborative and improvement products developed by the Q community.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to spot emerging opportunities, understand clientchallenges, and shape solutions and products accordingly.
