Job Description

Working hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract type: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Logistics to join the Operations team at Fixfast.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in leading and developing teams within a fast-paced logistics, warehouse or supply chain environment. They will also have proven ability to work cross-functionally, alongside strong budget and cost control management. Experience with warehouse automation and robotics (such as automated picking systems) is highly desirable.

A qualification in Continuous Improvement, a relevant Health & Safety certification (IOSH/NEBOSH), or a logistics/supply chain qualification would be advantageous, though not essential.

Key responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing and motivated logistics team
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to enhance individual and team performance
  • Foster a culture where individuals clearly understand performance expectations and take pride in achieving daily success
  • Set clear operational standards and drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Stay informed on logistics trends and implement appropriate technologies and equipment
Compliance and Governance
  • Ensure sufficient resource and capacity planning to meet fluctuating customer demand
  • Promote a strong Health & Safety culture in collaboration with the CI & H&S Manager
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to a high standard for safe and efficient operation
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including transport and export requirements
Commercial & Operational Performance
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Manage logistics costs including labour, freight, and storage budgets
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency initiatives
  • Support demand planning and capacity forecastingContinuously improve logistics processes to increase speed, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Own and optimise warehouse management systems (WMS/ERP)
  • Use data and KPIs to drive performance improvements
  • Produce regular performance reports for senior leadership
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Contribute to key business improvement and development projects, both leading initiatives and supporting cross-functional delivery
  • Work closely with Procurement, Sales, and Customer Service teams to improve service levels
  • Act as an escalation point for logistics-related issues impacting customers
Goods Out
  • Ensure accurate, on-time picking, packing, and dispatch of all customer orders in line with OTIF targets
  • Establish effective communication processes between logistics, sales, and customer service teams
Goods In
  • Ensure accurate and efficient booking-in and put-away of all supplier deliveries
  • Maintain clear communication processes to elevate supplier or delivery issues promptly
Goods Control
  • Ensure accurate and timely movement of goods within the warehouse
  • Maintain effective stock storage and location practices
