Job Description
Spirit Energy is seeking a Head of Legal to provide expert legal support across commercial, operational and regulatory matters, represent the company in key industry legal forums, and serve as the main interface for all Shareholder (SHO) communications.
Location & ContractAberdeen - 2 year contract, PAYE, day rate TBC (please provide a PAYE day rate expectation).
Hybrid working arrangement: 4 days per week in the office, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mandatory.
Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and guidance on all business matters including joint ventures, industry regulations, procurement, supply chain and disputes.
- Interpret and advise on the terms of existing contracts and agreements.
- Advise on the legal implications of operational activities.
- Draft, negotiate and conclude a range of agreements.
- Participate actively in contract governance and strategy.
- Manage and support the business in handling claims and disputes, ensuring appropriate legal resolution.
- Oversee and manage the engagement of external legal counsel, ensuring services are fit for purpose and cost effective.
- Act as the company's legal representative in key industry groups such as the Oil & Gas UK legal committee.
- Lead the interface for Shareholder Organisation (SHO) communications, managing the flow of information and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. REMIT).
- Organise SHO meetings and briefings.
- Coordinate and streamline shareholder approvals and consultation processes.
- Facilitate effective shareholder interaction and engagement.
- Strengthen communication governance frameworks.
- Ensure Spirit Energy and its shareholders meet obligations under the Shareholder Agreement and Joint Venture Contribution Agreement.
- Provide secretariat support as needed to governance boards and committees.
- Perform any other associated duties as reasonably required.
- Substantial oil and gas law experience either in house or private practice.
- Experience within the Oil & Gas industry desirable.
- Experience working with external stakeholders desirable.
- BA (Law) (LLB) or equivalent from a recognised university; experience in Oil & Gas environment.
- Practising certificate issued by the Law Society of England & Wales or the Law Society of Scotland.
