Irwin and Colton have exclusively partnered with one of the UK's leading social housing associations, Soha Housing, to recruit their new Head of Health and Safety.

This role will lead with strategic and expert guidance on corporate health and safety, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation and promoting a positive health and safety culture within Soha. As an active member of Soha's senior leadership team, the Head of Health and Safety will play an important role in delivering our corporate strategy.

Soha provides high-quality, affordable homes for people unable to rent or buy in the private sector; and as such, they build communities across Oxfordshire and beyond. The not-for-profit organization is fully mutualized; shareholding membership is open to tenants, shared owners, leaseholders, and staff. Members participate in key decisions, including rule changes, board appointments, and investments in resident and community involvement.

The responsibilities of the Head of Health and Safety include:

1. Leading a health and safety team of compliance surveyors, managing key building compliance areas alongside a compliance officer for Soha Response.
2. Providing health and safety support, coaching, and advice to operational leadership, and embedding safety standards.
3. Collaborating with the executive team to develop and implement a successful health and safety strategy.
4. Devising, developing, and embedding health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance toward achieving a recognised Health and Safety Management System.
5. Overseeing asset compliance data, working with the Director of Property Services, and reporting performance to the Health and Safety Committee, Audit and Risk Committee, and the Soha Board.
6. Providing operational oversight of the health and safety functions of Soha Response, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation.

The ideal Head of Health and Safety will possess:

1. Proven experience in a similar role within property, the built environment, facilities management, or a related industry.
2. Experience influencing, engaging, and coaching across all organizational levels, from on-site contractors to the boardroom.
3. Strong experience managing ISO systems (45001/14001/9001).
4. NEBOSH Diploma or BSc in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent).
5. Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH) and Chartership of IOSH (or working towards).
