We are looking for an individual to take on theHead of Growth & Engagement role. You will lead the strategies that drive membership growth, engagement, and community connection.


Based in our Liverpool Support Office, this is your chance to shape how members discover, interact with, and stay part of one of the UK's most exciting climbing brands. You'll own growth initiatives, marketing, CRM, and community partnerships, ensuring every member feels engaged, valued, and inspired to return.

Job Role

To drive sustainable member growth, engagement, and retention across all Hangar sites through a unified growth strategy that blends performance marketing, CRM, and community led storytelling. This role is accountable for membership volume, lifetime value, and retention, ensuring every pound of marketing investment contributes to measurable commercial outcomes. It leads the growth team to convert first time visitors into loyal members while protecting The Hangar's authenticity and community first culture.


Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Retention: Own and execute the full membership strategy, including pricing, acquisition, retention, and data driven initiatives, to deliver net growth and member lifetime value.


Marketing, Performance & Commercial Impact: Lead marketing strategy and campaigns focused on growth, conversion, retention, and ROI, leveraging insights, budgets, and team management to drive measurable commercial outcomes.


CRM, Data & Product Integration: Oversee the CRM lifecycle, automation, segmentation, and data integration to deliver personalised member journeys and foster continuous testing and optimisation.


Brand, Content & Influencer Marketing: Direct overall brand, content, and influencer strategy to build awareness, engagement, and commercial impact while ensuring consistency across all channels.


Community & Partnerships: Strengthen community presence and partnerships to drive engagement, credibility, footfall, and membership acquisition.


Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Growth & Marketing team, fostering a data driven, collaborative, and high performance culture while ensuring cross functional alignment.

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven track record in leading growth, membership, or subscription driven businesses, ideally multi site or consumer fitness/leisure sectors.

  • Strong understanding of CRM systems, digital performance, and funnel optimisation.

  • Commercially minded - acts with clear sight of cost, value, and ROI.

  • Member first mindset - balances business growth with genuine member value.

  • Clear communicator with the ability to inspire action and accountability across diverse stakeholders.

  • Confident leading both creative and analytical disciplines, from brand storytelling to campaign ROI tracking.
