Overview

Wimbledon High School Boat Club is a key part of the school community, supporting a hugely ambitious, thriving and motivated program. Rowing is a popular sport at Wimbledon High School, and the Boat Club nurtures a supportive environment where students can learn rowing from scratch and progress to national medals, GB rowing programme, or rowing scholarships.

The closing date for applications is 8th October 2025. Interviews will take place on 10th October 2025.

The role

There are several roles described in this posting across different school departments. Roles include: Head of Futures, Minibus Driver and Estates Operative, Head of Junior School Science, Head of Rowing Coach, Upper KS2 Class Teacher, and Junior School Teaching Assistant. Each role has its own responsibilities, requirements and interview dates as listed in the original posting.

Responsibilities and key duties
  • Rowing and Boat Club: support the Head of Rowing in the running of the Boat Club; develop training programmes; organise trips and camps; lead sessions in the absence of the Head of Rowing (HoR) as required.
  • Futures Programme: provide expert guidance on UK and international higher education applications; deliver Sixth Form Futures lessons; shape and lead the Futures Programme from Years 7-13; contribute to leadership of the Sixth Form Team; ensure students develop confidence, skills and aspirations for life beyond school.
  • Curriculum and teaching: oversee development and delivery of PE curriculum; lead prescribed subjects; coordinate examination entries, staffing, timetabling; promote a culture of participation and excellence in sport; teach KS3-KS5 as required.
  • Support roles: transport and minibus driving; grounds and maintenance tasks; event setup and logistics; assist with after-school and weekend activities and fixtures.
  • Pastoral and safeguarding: contribute to school pastoral systems; uphold safeguarding standards; participate in DBS and safeguarding checks as required.
About you

You will bring relevant experience and qualifications for the specific role, including but not limited to coaching rowing in a school setting, higher education guidance experience, teaching qualifications, and valid driving or other required certifications as applicable. Strong leadership, teamwork, communication and a commitment to safeguarding are essential.
