As Head of Format Development, you will be responsible for leading a team to develop the overall format strategy for TG Jones shops.

Collaborating closely with Commercial, Property, Operations, PMO and Marketing (to name a few), you will define the medium-to-long-term store experience and space strategy. You will explore and identify key future facing opportunities to create a vision and roadmap for our stores, propositions and customer experience.

You will feed into the overall commercial strategy to ensure future propositions complement the strategy whilst also feeding into the investment plan to ensure we understand the investment timeline into shops.

You will work cross-functionally, feeding into our key project owners, leading the early-stage brief development for new trials, aligning these briefs to the store experience strategy and proposed Business Plan.

You will support your teams in making priority decisions and coordinating/programming portfolio projects.

What you will be doing

-Lead the creation and development of the overall Store Format strategy. The strategy must consider vision for:

  • Our different sized stores and the customer mission, taking into consideration our store operating model and the impact this has on store choices
  • Macro space, clear principles for layouts, flows and adjacencies
  • Micro space, how products show up in stores and ranging decisions we make
  • Integration of third-party partnerships and promotional space
  • Store of the future concepts working alongside our new Modella Family

-Build capability in our display planning function to integrate and optimise systems with our third-party providers. Enhance range review process ensuring the right data is in the right forums to make the most informed decisions

-Drive and continue to develop our Range optimisation continuous improvement project through working on range assortment and selection tools.

-Prioritise workload with the layout team to ensure driving projects that add most value to the business

-Work on space analytics to ensure right cascades are in store for key seasonal events and promo space. Work with commercial to deliver autopsies to drive learnings for ongoing events.

-Establish robust measures of success for projects, all stakeholders are aligned to the ambition and scope and any issues are resolved in a timely manner.

-Support on business case development - creating business cases for new initiatives, assessment of their payback, and ensuring consistent measurement of benefits

-Bring wider industry experience to the team ensuring learnings from competitors across the world are considered to improve the customer experience and business profitability.

-Introduce new ways of working, thorough processes and clear objectives to the team to increase competency and capability in a new transformational commercial way of working
