We are looking for a leader with the expertise, energy and clarity to ensure that every pupil develops linguistic confidence, cultural understanding and strong communication skills, alongside a genuine appreciation of the value of languages in the modern world.

The successful candidate will combine a deep passion for language learning with a strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, pedagogy and departmental leadership.

This role would suit an outstanding teacher ready to step into leadership. Applications from candidates with strong experience teaching French are encouraged. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering excellent outcomes, developing a rich and ambitious curriculum, and creating a culture in which pupils are confident, curious and engaged language learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • using assessment effectively to support progress, refine practice and secure strong outcomes
  • supporting pupils to become reflective, independent and resilient learners
  • line managing and developing members of the department
  • contributing to whole school academic and cultural development
We are seeking someone who:
  • has a genuine passion for Modern Foreign Languages
  • is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations
  • has the ability to lead, inspire and develop colleagues
  • understands how to balance academic rigour with enthusiasm and enjoyment in language learning
  • can champion language learning within a whole school community
  • communicates clearly and builds strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • is committed to inclusion, ambition and excellent outcomes for all pupils
Benefits

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in a supportive and ambitious school community with engaged pupils, committed staff and a strong sense of purpose. This is a key role for the right candidate to make a lasting impact on pupils' lives and on the continued development of the school.

HSW is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to all appropriate safeguarding and pre employment checks.
