Head of Fleet

Requirements

• 8+ years of Fleet Leadership: You have significant experience heading up large-scale fleet operations, ideally within a high-growth or fast-paced logistics environment

• Decentralised Management Expert: You have a proven track record of managing teams and assets across multiple physical locations, ensuring operational excellence from afar

• Strong Communicator & Stakeholder Manager: You can engage with everyone from on the ground workshop mechanics to executive leadership, providing confidence in your strategy and updates
• Unwavering Sense of Ownership: You thrive on open-ended problems and take pride in building a safe, robust, and scalable fleet that represents the future of delivery
• EV Experience Preferred: Experience managing electric vehicle (EV) fleets and understanding the nuances of charging infrastructure and battery health is highly advantageous

What the job involves

• As the Head of Fleet, you will be the architect and guardian of our fleet
• You will be responsible for leading and scaling our fleet operations across multiple decentralised locations, ensuring that our 100% electric fleet is the most efficient, safe, and compliant in the industry
• This is a high-leverage leadership role where you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our assets-from multi-million pound procurement strategies to the daily grit of workshop operations
• You will sit at the intersection of Operations, Finance, and Tech, ensuring our fleet is not just operational, but optimised for Total Cost of Ownership and ready for rapid expansion
• Lead Fleet Strategy & Procurement: Define and execute the long term roadmap for our fleet. You'll lead the exploration of new vehicle types and negotiate high-value procurement deals that align with HIVED's sustainability and growth goals. You will lead our thinking on remarketing strategy, optimum holding periods, and financing arragements
• Own Repair & Maintenance: Oversee our internal workshop operations and manage external garage partnerships. You'll ensure we strike the balance between internal speed and external expertise to minimise Vehicle Off Road time
• Command a Decentralised Team: Provide strong, inspirational leadership to fleet teams across multiple London depots. You'll ensure high standards of performance and safety are maintained consistently, even when you aren't on site
• Manage the Admin Function: Take full ownership of the fleet admin function, including insurance claim processing and the end-to-end management of PCNs, turning high-volume tasks into streamlined, efficient processes
• Drive Fleet Compliance & Safety: Ensure HIVED remains the gold standard for safety. You will be responsible for maintaining a fully compliant fleet, adhering to all regulatory requirements and O Licence undertakings
• Optimise Total Cost of Ownership: Use data led insights to analyse fleet performance. You will independently identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency without compromising on quality or safety. You will own vehicle unit economics and TCO and report to the executive team on key metrics
