Head of Fire Engineering

UK Wide, with initial project in North London

This is an opportunity to step into a genuine leadership role and shape something from the ground up.

A growing consultancy is investing heavily in its fire engineering capability and is looking to appoint a Chartered Fire Engineer to lead, develop, and expand the function. The initial focus will be supporting a key project in North London, with infrequent site visits required, while the majority of your time can be spent working from home.

This is not a maintenance role. It is a chance to build a team, influence strategy, and play a visible part in the growth of a business that is gaining real traction across the UK.

The Role

You will take ownership of the fire engineering offering, both technically and commercially. From day one, you will be trusted to make decisions, guide clients, and set the direction of the department.

You will be involved in:

• Leading fire engineering strategy and shaping the long-term direction of the team
• Delivering and overseeing fire safety solutions across a range of projects
• Acting as the senior technical authority and sign-off point
• Building and mentoring a team as the department grows
• Supporting business development and strengthening client relationships
• Working closely with directors to expand the company's presence in the market

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clear, practical fire engineering advice across complex schemes
• Review and approve fire strategies, reports, and designs
• Engage directly with clients, stakeholders, and design teams
• Identify opportunities for new work and contribute to winning projects
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing fire engineering team
• Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance across all deliverables
• Undertake complex fire risk assessments

About You

• Chartered Fire Engineer with a recognised professional body
• Strong technical background across fire strategy and design
• Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers
• Commercial awareness, with the confidence to engage clients and win work
• Motivated by the opportunity to build and shape a department
