Head of Financial Control & Compliance 
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract: 14 Month Fixed-Term Contract
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Financial Control & Compliance to join us on a fixed term basis!
The Head of FCC leads the financial statutory reporting, internal controls, and compliance function, overseeing critical third-party relationships including auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and shareholder finance stakeholders. This role drives financial discipline, governance and risk management across the Group.
What you will be doing:- Lead and manage the financial statutory reporting, tax, treasury, and internal audit team.
- Own group entity-based consolidation, statutory accounts, and shareholder reporting-ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Manage external audits, regulatory reporting, and statutory filings (UK and international).
- Drive the Group's tax strategy, including compliance, transfer pricing, and coordination with external advisors.
- Embed streamlined reporting processes, automation, and efficiency across the team.
- Coordinate a monthly internal audit review of internal financial controls, monthly reconciliations, and governance frameworks.
- Oversee foreign exchange risk management, debt refinancing, and pension-related matters.
- Own the design and delivery of streamlined reporting processes, embedding automation, standardization, and efficiency across the finance function.
- Act as a strategic partner in finance transformation system initiatives, including ERP implementations and system-based tool upgrades.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and IFRS/UK GAAP matters.
- Maintaining the group's finance policies and procedures, incorporating both accounting policies and internal procedural controls.
- Support the submission of financial data required for information disclosure by domestic Chinese listed companies and domestic Chinese regulatory compliance.
- Act as company Nominated trustee to the group's legacy defined benefit pension scheme.
- Budget holder for finance cost centres, managing external partner relationships & budgets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, technically strong finance team.
- Execute sophisticated ad hoc projects to support dynamic business needs.
- Zero material audit adjustments.
- Zero tax or duty fines.
- Optimized foreign exchange outcomes aligned with forecasts.
- Timely, accurate, and compliant reporting to shareholders and regulators.
- Successful delivery of finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.
- ACA/ACCA qualified, graduate degree.
- Strong technical accounting expertise (IFRS, UK GAAP).
- Experience in group reporting, multi-site international operations, and treasury management.
- Track record in finance transformation, process improvement, and ERP/reporting automation.
- Highly analytical with strong Excel and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work at pace, deliver under tight deadlines, and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
