Job Description

We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Head of Finance to lead our financial operations and ensure the delivery of timely, accurate financial information. You will play a crucial role in month-end reporting, financial compliance, VAT submissions, reconciliation processes, and maintaining regulatory obligations, while supporting the wider team with insightful trading reports. You are a hands-on financial leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You bring both rigour and adaptability, and you're comfortable building processes where needed while balancing attention to detail with commercial pragmatism. The Job:

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Coordinate all reconciliations (bank, supplier, customer, multi-currency accounts)
  • Ensure month-end close timelines and financial integrity are met
  • Maintain robust internal controls and reconciliation processes
  • Oversee VAT reporting and submissions, ensuring compliance with UK HMRC regulations
  • Manage regulatory relationships with bodies such as the CAA and ABTA
  • Develop and deliver regular trading reports to support commercial decisions
  • Monitor company budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Oversee provider/supplier payment schedules and ensure accuracy in invoice processing
  • Maintain and optimise use of Xero for accounting
  • Create, automate, and manage reports and models using Excel for analysis and decision-making
  • Monitor daily cash positions and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts
  • Manage multi-currency accounts and exposure modelling
  • Lead banking relationships and support ongoing funding initiatives
  • Manage payroll operations and ensure accuracy of salary, pension, and benefit contributions

Skills Required:

  • Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • 3+ years' experience in a finance leadership or controller role
  • Deep knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrable experience in: - Month-end reporting and financial reconciliation - UK VAT reporting and compliance - multi-currency trading and reporting - Producing insightful financial and trading reports
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and building scalable financial processes

The Package:

  • Salary up to £80,000
  • Hybrid working in South London (3 days office based)
