Job Description

We're looking for someone to join our Tech Engineering team to support the development of Gymshark's data platform, data science, and data platform capabilities to deliver a deep, accurate, reliable, and continuously improving understanding of Gymshark's business and customers.

Currently in a senior data analytics, data science, platform or engineering role you will have a strong knowledge of data platform technologies and excellent leadership skills, with an ability to drive actionable, data driven insights influencing senior decision makers and delivering positive business results.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading, coaching, and developing the data platform, data science, and ML/AI capability at Gymshark.
  • Developing a data strategy that aligns with Gymshark's commercial goals.
  • Providing Gymshark's data platform and data science and ML/AI capabilities.
  • Developing standardised processes and practices to maximise the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of data science, analytics, and data platform capability.
  • Ensuring consistency in analytical, data science and data platform standards, definitions, methodologies across the global data science community.
  • Providing day to day support to the team; giving clear direction on responsibilities, objectives, and development plans, ensuring they are delivering against each area.
  • Documenting our data assets, ensuring we understand what data we store, how it can be accessed, and what it represents (e.g., data dictionary, ERDs for data systems).
  • Personal and professional development of all data teams.
  • Putting Gymshark on the leading edge of applied data disciplines through trials and adoption of appropriate new methodologies and tools.
  • Continuously assessing our analytics, data science, and data platform toolkit, ensuring it is fit for purpose and enables market leading and forward thinking initiatives.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous learning, sharing and development.

What You'll Need
  • Extensive experience in a data analytics, data science, platform or senior engineering management role.
  • Strong knowledge of data platform technologies (SQL, GCP, Looker, Alteryx).
  • A core understanding of machine learning, analytics and data platform concepts (predictive modelling, forecasting, clustering, data quality, ETL, data lakes, etc.).
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages (SQL, Python, Java, C++ etc.) and their application in data analytics, data science, data engineering or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the technical skills throughout data analytics, science and engineering.
  • Ability to lead effectively through coaching, personal and professional development plans and effective feedback.
  • Ability to delegate, support, coach and direct and know when and how to adopt each appropriately.
  • Experience delivering actionable, data driven insights that have influenced senior decision makers and delivered positive business results.
  • Experience of distributed stakeholder management (UK, EU, US).
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to deliver commercially valuable solutions.
  • Ability to influence senior decision makers - specifically on the impact and opportunities that data disciplines can deliver.
  • Commercially minded individual with the ability to identify valuable opportunities for analytics initiatives across all business functions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload for your team, understanding which projects will drive the most commercial value and ensuring your team works efficiently on all projects.
  • Ability to manage high pressure projects and balance conflicting business goals.
  • Experience with challenging methodologies and approaches within and outside your preferred domain to ensure the right techniques are used to complete projects.
  • Experience collaborating with third parties and partners to deliver business goals.
What You Could Also Have
  • Experience as data engineer, data scientist, data quality or data analyst, or related discipline.
  • Experience or ability to lead organisational change towards data related decision making (data led vs data informed).
  • Experience in a delivery focused role.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and related governance practices.

This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate will attend at least 3 days a week in GSIQ, Solihull, UK.
