Head of Data

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Data to lead the data strategy, architecture, and execution as our client scales their data and AI capabilities.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role overseeing data teams, driving a modern data platform, and enabling the business to become fully data-driven. You will partner closely with Technology, Product, Marketing, Operations, and Executive leadership to define and deliver a clear data vision.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy & Leadership

• Own and deliver the organisation's data strategy and roadmap.
• Drive the vision for data as a core enabler of AI, analytics, automation, and business growth.
• Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary data team (engineering, analytics, governance, science).
• Act as the executive-level champion for data quality, governance, and literacy.

Data Platform & Architecture

• Define and evolve the data architecture and modern data stack.
• Oversee the implementation of scalable data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions.
• Ensure robust, secure, and compliant data infrastructure aligned with privacy and regulatory standards.
• Introduce best-in-class tooling and practices for DataOps, MLOps, and Analytics Engineering.

Business Enablement & Delivery

• Partner with business units to translate goals into actionable, data-driven outcomes.
• Align stakeholders around KPIs, data definitions, and measurement frameworks.
• Drive adoption of self-service analytics and enterprise reporting.
• Enable AI and ML initiatives through clean, governed, well-structured data.

Governance & Compliance

• Establish data governance policies and processes.
• Ensure GDPR-compliant data handling and risk management.
• Oversee data quality frameworks and life cycle management.

Skills & Experience required:

• Proven experience as Head of Data, Data Director, or similar senior leadership role.
• Strong background in data engineering, architecture, and analytics.
• Experience building or scaling a modern data stack (eg, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow).
• Deep understanding of data governance, quality, privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence executive teams.
• Experience leading data teams in fast-scaling or transformation-focused environments.
• Confident working in hybrid/onsite teams and managing cross-functional delivery.
