We are recruiting for a Head of Commercial Delivery - Supply Chain based in Derby, responsible for leading and supporting the commercial delivery teams across a portfolio of projects within the overall Rolls Royce Limited (RRSL) Major Infrastructure Programme (MIP). The role spans new manufacturing and office facilities across fissile and non fissile sites, delivering a complex major infrastructure programme that creates 1,170 skilled roles over the next decade.
Responsibilities- Take overall strategic responsibility for all contract and commercial activity across the portfolio within the MIP, ensuring business needs are met while achieving RRSL commercial outcomes.
- Provide commercial leadership across the portfolio to drive excellence in budget management, cost and financial management, contract management, dispute avoidance and commercial performance for RRSL sub contracts.
- Own and manage the commercial relationship with suppliers to support successful delivery.
- Coach and support programme and project managers on commercial issues.
- Lead and manage the Commercial Leads accountable for project commercial leadership and management of project commercial delivery teams.
- Build visible and effective supplier partnerships within the allocated programme.
- Identify commercial needs, priorities and potential threats, defining mitigation actions to support better delivery.
- Collaborate with Heads of Projects and Programme Executives within the MIP as part of the leadership team.
- Drive supplier performance to meet safety, quality, cost and programme requirements.
- Ensure subcontract costs are appropriate, attributable and reasonable (AAR) under SSCR and comply with commercial policies.
- Lead commercial governance to ensure compliance with RRSL policy and procedures for predictable delivery.
- Develop subcontract agreements from first principles, negotiating with suppliers and senior stakeholders for fit for purpose subcontracts.
- Expert knowledge of NEC contracts, specifically Defined Cost contracts.
- Significant and demonstrable experience leading and managing commercial teams, including matrix management at a senior level.
- Extensive major programme experience; nuclear experience preferred but wider infrastructure experience (utilities, transport, energy) acceptable.
- Ability to lead, build and motivate a diverse workforce delivering strong commercial performance.
- Effective decision making skills to mitigate commercial threats and realise efficiency opportunities.
- Experience forming and maintaining partnering arrangements in a commercial delivery environment.
- Relevant professional qualification in RICS, ICES, ICE or equivalent.
- Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats; support provided to obtain clearance if not already in place.
- UK nationality required; dual nationals subject to additional scrutiny and background checks.
