Job Description
About the London Borough of Redbridge The London Borough of Redbridge is a forward-looking, ambitious borough, proud of its rich diversity, growing population and thriving communities. Situated in East London, we are shaping a borough that is inclusive, sustainable and ready for the future. Redbridge is a place of opportunity whether that's through our schools, our green spaces, or our housing, our council plays a vital role in ensuring opportunities are open to all.
Housing is central to this vision. Our commitment to safe, high-quality, and environmentally sustainable homes is a cornerstone of the council's work, and asset management sits right at the heart of that mission.
As part of the Council's strategic commitment to improving outcomes and achieving greater value for money, we have reviewed our delivery model and are looking to implement an improved service delivery structure to ensure we offer the best service to our tenants. This transition presents an exciting opportunity to re-establish core capabilities, embed a renewed culture of excellence, and build a high-performing, multidisciplinary team aligned to the Council's long-term vision.
The Role We are seeking an exceptional Head of Asset Management to lead one of the most important services in our Housing Directorate. Reporting to the Operational Director of Housing, this role is responsible for all asset management functions across the council's housing stock, including compliance, building safety, capital investment, and repairs.
You will build and lead a high-performing team, ensuring our homes are safe, energy-efficient and future-ready. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape a new service from the ground up, recruiting and developing a team that reflects our values and ambition. From managing £40 million budgets to shaping our strategic asset management and investment plans, this is a role with real influence and impact.
Building relationships will be central to your success. Whether you're working closely with elected members, contractors or residents, you will bring clarity, purpose and accountability to every conversation. You will also play a key role in supporting the council's responsibilities under the Building Safety Act 2022 and wider regulatory framework.
Above all, you will help embed a service culture that values engagement, transparency and trust, ensuring our tenants and leaseholders feel heard, safe and supported
About You We are looking for a strategic, knowledgeable and people-focused leader with a strong background in housing asset management. You will bring significant senior-level experience managing compliance, building safety, repairs and planned investment programmes, to standard and within budget.
You'll be a confident and visible leader, ready to support and inspire a multidisciplinary team. A professionally qualified housing or construction expert, you will combine technical expertise with a clear understanding of the wider housing policy context, from sustainability and regeneration to tenant engagement and equity.
You will have a strong track record of working across boundaries building effective partnerships, driving contract performance and supporting political decision-making with insight and assurance. Your financial acumen, creative thinking and commitment to excellence will help shape a service that meets the needs of today, while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow. Most importantly, you will champion a tenant-first approach, ensuring tenants are at the heart of everything we do and that their voices shape our priorities and outcomes.
Why Redbridge? This is a chance to join a council with genuine ambition. At Redbridge, you'll find a collaborative culture, a strong sense of purpose and a leadership team committed to innovation and improvement.
