About the Hotel
We are developing an iconic luxury hotel in the heart of Paramaribo, set to become a flagship destination for Suriname's growing international business and hospitality scene. With 60 luxury rooms, two full-service restaurants, and a helicopter deck, the hotel will serve as a hub for high-end business travelers, energy executives, and international guests drawn to Suriname's promising oil and gas future.
Role Overview
As Chef de Cuisine, you will lead the culinary vision of the hotel, overseeing all kitchen operations and menu development across two restaurants: a refined international dining experience and a contemporary Surinamese-fusion concept. You'll be responsible for creating an exceptional gastronomic offering that positions the hotel as a culinary landmark in the region.
This role is ideal for a seasoned chef with a background in Suriname or a strong desire to relocate (or return) and contribute to the country's renaissance.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, lead, and execute the culinary strategy of the hotel in collaboration with executive management.
• Create innovative menus that balance international sophistication with local authenticity.
• Build and train a high-performing kitchen brigade, emphasizing sustainability, quality, and consistency.
• Manage budgets, sourcing, and supplier relations-prioritizing local ingredients and ethical practices.
• Ensure all food and hygiene standards meet international 5-star hospitality benchmarks.
• Represent the hotel in culinary events, media appearances, and VIP functions.
Candidate Profile
• Proven experience as Chef de Cuisine or Executive Chef in a luxury or fine-dining environment.
• Deep knowledge of international gastronomy; passion for Surinamese cuisine and ingredients is a must.
• Background in Suriname or strong interest in relocating (or returning) to the country.
• Experience building teams and operating in multicultural, dynamic environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Fluency in English required; Dutch or Sranan Tongo is a plus.
