Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist - Acute Leukaemia

We currently have a vacancy for an Acute Leukaemia CNS. The individual will provide high-quality cancer nursing service to patients throughout their cancer journey, with responsibility for coordination of and enhancing the patient experience, ensuring continuity of care and influencing patient pathways.
Are you self motivated, enthusiastic, eager to learn and keen to develop the skills to work both autonomously and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team? As a Band 7 you will be expected to meet the essential criteria and possess appropriate post registration experience in haematology nursing and hold a relevant degree. Along with excellent communication, written and computer skills, you will need to be organised and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team. Through face to face and telephone contact, you will provide advice, support and information to patients and their families and carers. You will be expected to run and support nurse led clinics and actively participate in peer review, audit and service improvement. Advanced nursing skills such as assessing and prescribing are integral to this role; if you do not already possess these you should be keen to develop them with our support.
Main duties of the job- As delegated, provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and their relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi disciplinary team in line with local and national targets. This will be for inpatients, outpatients and day care patients of the Trust, and will involve liaison with community services as appropriate.
- The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and support within their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.
- Working within existing CNS specialist team you will act as a Key Worker, carrying a clinical caseload but working under close supervision, to proactively manage care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients.
- Registered Nurse
- Knowledge of research and audit
- Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject e.g. Haematology specific course such as Principles of Haemato Oncology Care
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
- Advanced Communication course and Level 2 psychological skills training.
- Evidence of continuing professional development, this will be a relevant post registration qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience of change management
- Leadership Experience
- Experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Able to manage difficult situations effectively.
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Ability to design and deliver education programmes.
