University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Closing date: 03 May 2026

Full time (37.5 hours) Band 6 position. Working Monday Friday during office hours on a cross site role.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the Gynaecology Oncology Nurse Specialist team to support patients and families throughout the cancer journey.

Main Duties
  • Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and recovery.
  • Manage clinical workload, prioritise and re prioritise as required.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary team across sites.
  • Deliver guidance and support to new staff; undergo full induction and supernumerary period.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Current NMC / GMC registration
Experience and Knowledge
  • Demonstrable experience in Gynaecology or Oncology.
  • Experience with sensitive situations.
  • IT literate.
  • Experience of audit.
  • Knowledge of gynaecological related conditions.
  • Knowledge of caring for patients with new cancer diagnosis.
Communications and Interpersonal Skills
  • Communicates sensitive information to patients, relatives and the wider health community.
  • Overcomes barriers to communication and acceptance.
  • Negotiates, persuades, motivates, reassures, facilitates and influences.
Responsibility and Accountability
  • Assesses risks and takes appropriate action.
  • Manages clinical workload, prioritises and re prioritises as required.
