The Role

The Group Head of People Operations/HR will lead the people, culture, capability, staff learning & career development, health & safety, and data protection compliance agenda across Select Technology group businesses including DID Electrical and Blink 24 Distribution.

This senior, strategic yet hands on leadership role is within a multi site, customer facing retail and services organisation operating across Ireland and the UK.

Key Responsibilities HR Strategy & Operational Leadership
  • Develop and deliver a clear Group People Strategy aligned to business objectives.
  • Provide pragmatic, hands on HR leadership across retail, logistics and office environments - across Ireland and the UK.
  • Lead recruitment, workforce planning, employee relations and performance management, as well as Learning & Development.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team on people, culture and organisational matters.
  • Develop and lead the core HR / People Ops team for Ireland and the UK.
Training & People Development
  • Design and deliver structured training and capability frameworks across the Group.
  • Ensure mandatory training programmes (Health & Safety, GDPR, Information Security) are consistently delivered and evidenced.
  • Build leadership development and succession pipelines to support long term growth.
  • Oversee professional development, apprenticeships and early career pathways.
  • Own and continuously improve the Group Learning Management System (LMS).
Data Protection & Information Governance
  • Own the Group's data protection and information governance framework across Ireland and the UK.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance is embedded within day to day operations and systems.
  • Lead data protection impact assessments, audits and policy ownership.
  • Lead data breach and incident response, including regulator engagement where required.
  • Ensure staff awareness and training programmes remain current and effective.
Culture, Engagement & Communication
  • Strengthen employee engagement and organisational culture across a diverse, multi site workforce.
  • Support internal communications and change initiatives.
  • Promote consistent values, behaviours and leadership standards across the Group.
HR Operations, Governance & Analytics
  • Oversee HR systems, data quality and reporting.
  • Provide people analytics and insights to support decision making.
  • Support HR / People Ops Team budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Ensure employment policies and practices remain aligned across jurisdictions.
Change, Growth & Integration
  • Support organisational change, growth initiatives and acquisition integration activity.
  • Provide pragmatic guidance on employment risk, compliance and governance.
  • Contribute to Board level management team reporting on people and compliance matters.
Health & Safety (potential carve out)
  • Own and maintain the Group Health & Safety management system across retail, logistics, delivery and office environments.
  • Ensure robust contractor and third party safety governance.
  • Lead incident response, investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
  • Act as senior interface with insurers, regulators and external advisors.
  • Provide clear Health & Safety reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong senior People & HR leadership experience within a complex, multi site, preferably a retail background organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish and UK employment law and best practice.
  • Experience in People Ops dispute handling and resolution across all levels.
  • Experience with TUPE and familiar staff change management control and processes in mergers & acquisitions.
  • Demonstrated experience across People Ops, Learning, Training and teams Development, Health & Safety and Data Protection / Compliance.
  • Ability to operate credibly at both strategic and hands on operational levels and build the appropriate People Ops / HR Team for Ireland and the UK support function.
  • Experience within retail, logistics or customer facing operational environments preferred.
  • CIPD Accreditation is preferred.
