Group Financial Accountant (Maternity)

Reports to: Group Financial Controller

Location: Abbey Park head office near Kenilworth in the West Midlands or Caldicot office, Castlegate Business Park, Wales

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week over five days

Hybrid Working: Up to 2 days per week remote, following training and competency assessment

Role Overview

This maternity cover position will work alongside another existing Group Financial Accountant, providing support and assistance with key financial processes during the maternity leave period. The role will ensure continuity and accuracy in reporting and compliance while sharing responsibilities with the current team member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with group consolidation as part of the month-end process
  • Support Board reporting preparation, including KPI analysis
  • Prepare month-end reports and management accounts
  • Month-end reconciliations (debtors, creditors, bank accounts, intercompany accounts, etc.)
  • Provide financial insights to support business decision-making
  • Support with the annual external audit
  • Assist with annual statutory financial reporting
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns
  • Respond to financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete business surveys as required
  • Undertake ad hoc duties to support the finance team
About You
  • Qualified or Part-Qualified (ACA or ACCA)/ AAT qualified
  • Good knowledge of UK financial reporting standards
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to review and interpret financial data
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
