Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a Group Accountant. This is a full time, staff position and will be based from our client's offices in Aberdeen City Centre, however flexible hybrid working is on offer. This organisation is dynamic and fast-paced and requires a forward-thinking finance team that drives operational excellence and strategic insight. As they scale, they need a highly skilled Group Accountant with strong experience in Oracle NetSuite to support their global finance operations.

The Opportunity

The Group Accountant will be responsible for overseeing group-level financial reporting, consolidations, compliance, and control processes. This role will play a pivotal part in the rollout, optimisation, and management of their Oracle NetSuite ERP system, ensuring its integration into all aspects of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Consolidation & Reporting:
    • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual group consolidated accounts in compliance with IFRS or applicable standards
    • Prepare and maintain intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • ERP Systems Management:
    • Lead or support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of Oracle NetSuite, including financial modules, workflows, and reporting tools
    • Act as a key point of contact between finance and IT/system vendors to ensure alignment of system capabilities with business needs
    • Provide training and support to internal users across global offices on NetSuite best practices
  • Audit, Compliance, and Internal Controls:
    • Support statutory audits for group and subsidiaries
    • Ensure financial control policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to across the group
    • Maintain documentation for SOX or other regulatory requirements (if applicable)
  • Business Partnering:
    • Work with local finance teams and business leaders across multiple geographies to ensure consistency in reporting and compliance
    • Deliver financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making

Background and experience

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a similar role and good knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.

Qualifications:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting and consolidation in an international business
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle NetSuite - ideally in both implementation and daily use
  • Experience in a professional services or consultancy environment is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and multi-currency consolidations
  • Experience working in a high-growth or transformation-driven environment is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong systems and process orientation
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with NetSuite reporting tools is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills - able to liaise across functions and geographies
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
