Job Description
Senior Ground Software Engineer - Contract - Hybrid (Munich)
We're looking for a Senior Ground Software Engineer to support the development of mission-critical ground software for advanced defence and aerospace systems.
This is a hands-on contract role focused on building high-performance, operator-facing applications used for mission preparation, execution and monitoring. You'll develop robust C++ software across Linux and Windows environments, working closely with systems, GNC, test and operations engineers to translate real operational requirements into reliable software tools.
Essential:
- Strong modern C++ development experience
- Experience developing ground systems, operator-facing applications or complex technical software
- Development experience across Linux and/or Windows environments
- Strong understanding of software architecture, performance and reliability
- Experience integrating software with external systems, hardware or simulation environments
- Ability to translate system and operational requirements into practical software solutions
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
- Aerospace, defence or similarly complex engineering systems experience
Desirable:
- Qt development experience
- Ground Control System (GCS) or Ground Support Equipment software experience
- Mapping, geospatial or data visualisation technologies
- Simulation and test system integration
- Experience working with GNC, telemetry or mission systems
- Previous experience developing software used in mission-critical or operational environments
- Comfortable operating within a fast-paced R&D or startup environment
