Job SummaryReporting to the Head of Commercial and Estimating.
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor/Estimator within the Commercial Department, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our four key business units, Public Lighting, Sports Lighting, EV & Solar. Your responsibilities will include assisting the estimators/quantity surveyors with assessing client requirements, reviewing site details/drawings, and preparing accurate cost estimates for the commercial department.
The role is suited to a graduate or early career QS looking to develop experience in public infrastructure works, cost control, and contract administration.
In addition, you will contribute to the commercial operations of the business, providing support as required to ensure the successful execution of projects.
The successful candidate will receive full and comprehensive training and get valuable exposure across Electric Skyline's projects. We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident, and highly motivated individual with strong technical, financial, and commercial acumen. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, consistently meeting project deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. A high level of proficiency in I.T., coupled with excellent communication and reporting skills, is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities Assisting the current Estimators/Quantity Surveyors- Assist with preparing accurate cost estimates
- Assist with monthly applications, variations & final accounts
- Review project specifications, tender documents, and client requirements.
- Conduct site visits where required.
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and ESL team to gather project data.
- Prepare professional proposals with technical details, financial breakdowns, and pricing documents.
- Ensure estimates comply with relevant building codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of material costs, labour rates, and vendor pricing.
- Work closely with procurement to obtain competitive supplier quotes.
- Support sales and project teams in answering client technical queries.
- Update stakeholders on cost changes or scope adjustments.

Person Specification Required Qualifications/Education- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Quantity Surveying desirable
- A trade background with electrical experience will be considered
- Graduate or one year's post graduate experience in a QS role or similar positions desirable
- Valid working rights within Ireland
- Proven track record working in a team environment, work independently and take instructions
- Software MS Office skills particularly Excel
- Excellent communication skills are crucial along with analytical and organisational skills.
- Good communication and presence in English, both written and verbally
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills if required
