Job Description
Overview

RSSB develops railway standards on behalf of the railway industry in Great Britain. Standards are an agreed way of doing something, and so, they ensure interoperability, help manage risks, reduce costs as the rail industry does not have to re-invent the wheel every time the same situation occurs and so they also open markets.

Over the course of 36 months, you will work across RSSB and wider industry to gain a holistic insight into how we work and the challenges the industry face in providing a safe, efficient, and sustainable rail system.

You will be based within RSSB's Standards Infrastructure Team which manages, and drafts Infrastructure Standards for Great Britain (GB) and international railway systems. It also provides technical leadership for a range of Infrastructure issues, from track maintenance to station design.

You will have the opportunity to work with other teams within RSSB and take external placements with our members in industry. You will be able to build relationships across the railway industry and deliver a safer, more efficient, and sustainable rail system.

By the end of the programme, you will have built a professional network that will help you with your career within RSSB and beyond, and with our support you will be on your way to achieving Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
