Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our Great Yarmouth manufacturing facility.

You will contribute to both internal development and customer funded projects. This encompasses all aspects of design, test and qualification. Product applications include industrial high temperature, harsh environment hybrid microelectronics, RF transmit/receive modules, optoelectronic transceivers, radar systems and hybrid microelectronics for aerospace and defence applications

Here are just some examples of the types of programmes you could be working on:

  • High Temperature - we are a chosen design partner for the design and manufacture of hybrid multi-chip modules used in high temperature environments within oil and gas drilling and exploration.
  • Defence - we work closely with leading defence primes designing components, modules, and subsystems for applications in missile defence systems, radar, and fighter aircraft.

Our customers approach us with complex and challenging projects. You will be provided with a wealth of development opportunities, engaging with these exciting projects as part of our talented team of highly skilled engineers to provide leading design and manufacturing solutions that meet and exceed those challenges.

Working cross functionally with multiple teams and departments, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of our products throughout their life cycle. This includes:

Review of new opportunities:

  • Reviewing customer enquiries

Design of new products:

  • CAD layout from schematic
  • BOM generation and management
  • Simulation and analysis
  • Qualification of new designs
  • Design for manufacture
  • Test specification/design

Supporting products in manufacture:

  • Customer returns
  • Support of diagnostics
  • CI activities and improvement projects
  • Component obsolescence review - selection of replacements
  • Re-design for obsolescence - documentation update

As part of your graduate role, you will complete several placements across our different engineering areas and within other departments outside of engineering to provide you the opportunity to build broad knowledge and experience of the business.

What we are looking for

You will have a degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field and have some knowledge of electronics design including integrated circuit package design and PCB layout. Ideally you will also have familiarity with microelectronics assembly and production processes, as well as thick film hybrid technologies and electronics test methodologies. You should be passionate about solving complex problems, be keen to develop your technical competence and be a highly motivated self-starter with an enthusiastic approach to work.

Previous work experience through internships or work placements will be advantageous.

You must also be able to obtain security clearance as part of this role.
