Impact Assessment - Role Description
The role involves environmental management and assessment with opportunities to work on UK national and international environmental and social impact assessments. The team is part of Ramboll's Impact Assessment Global Service Line, with specialists across sectors including Energy, Infrastructure, Development & Planning, Marine, and International Finance. The UK Impact Assessment team covers environmental impact assessment, planning, and socio-economic assessments.
Key responsibilities
- Support early-stage feasibility assessment/site selection and environmental constraints analysis; work with the Planning team to understand planning policy implications
- Manage all stages of environmental impact assessment including screening, scoping, Environmental Statements, and post-consent support; ensure compliance with environmental commitments, planning conditions, and DCO requirements
- Coordinate environmental disciplines and deliver baseline surveys (ecology, peat, noise, air quality) and support related surveys
- Site inspections and walkover surveys
- Support stakeholder engagement, public consultations, and engagement with regulators/planning authorities
- Interface with design and client teams; manage delivery of surveys and Environmental Statement inputs
- Draft Environmental Statement chapters, including introductory and cumulative assessment chapters and Non-Technical Summaries
- Develop skills across disciplines and contribute to environmental chapters
- Support business development and proposal preparation
Your skills and experience
For this role, a starting point is
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Assessment and Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Oceanography, Marine-related degrees, or Geography
- Enthusiasm for learning, research, teamwork
- Adaptability, good time management, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Good digital literacy; GIS and AI literacy (e.g., LLMs) would be beneficial
- Numerical competency
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Excellent report writing skills
