Chorlton Family Practice is seeking to recruit a 5-session GP Partner to join our established partnership, in anticipation of the planned retirement of one of our senior partners in April 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a large, forward-thinking Training Practice with a supportive, enthusiastic multidisciplinary team, operating within a relaxed and encouraging working environment.
We are currently the second largest practice in Manchester, serving a diverse population of approximately 22,500 patients in leafy Chorlton, South West Manchester.

- Core responsibilities of a GP Partner, including QOF and Locally Commissioned Services delivery,
- Support for Elderly Care team
- Oversight of local nursing home
- Role in GP trainee supervision and interest or accreditation in GP education
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
- The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
- Effective management of long-term conditions
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
- On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
- Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
- Lead on specific areas for national and local contracting requirements
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
- Lead on specific strategic and practice development projects as required by the partnership
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal and revalidation o
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
- Support the training of GPSTs and ACPs where required
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
- Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Fully qualified General Practitioner, holding MRCGP, Vocational Training Certificate, or Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) awarded by the JCPTGP or an equivalent recognised body.
- Evidence of successful completion of GP specialty training and eligibility to practise as an independent practitioner within UK primary care.
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards, clinical competence, and ongoing development in line with GMC requirements.
- 1) Experience of working within a UK primary care environment, including providing patient-centred care across a range of consultation types (face-to-face, telephone, and remote consultations).
- 2) Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary primary care team, contributing to safe, effective, and coordinated patient care.
- 3) Evidence of active engagement in continued professional development (CPD), reflective learning, and professional supervision where appropriate.
- 4) Detailed understanding of QOF indicators, including accurate clinical coding, disease register management, and contribution to achievement and review.
- 5) Experience of medicines management, including repeat prescribing, structured medication reviews, and collaborative working with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- 6) Experience of undertaking or contributing to clinical audit, quality improvement, or service evaluation activity, with an understanding of how learning is embedded into practice.
- 7) Ability to work within agreed policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of clinical safety, confident working knowledge of the Primary Care Contract, including core services, enhanced services, access requirements, clinical governance, and regulatory responsibilities. confidentiality, and professionalism.
- 1) Experience of engagement with ICB-, PCN-, or neighbourhood-level initiatives
- 2) Experience in service development, pathway redesign, or system-wide improvement programmes. Experience of contributing to service innovation, digital working, or new models of access within primary care.
- 3) Understanding of how to design and run EMIS searches and reports for audit and QI purposes.
- 4) Understanding of national and local health policy and strategy, the strategic direction of travel for GP, threats and opportunities.
- 5) Experience of elderly care in a General Practice setting Experience of management of patients within a nursing home setting
- 6) Experience in GP trainee supervision and interest or accreditation in GP education
- 7) A minimum of three years experience as a salaried GP, which may include relevant post-CCT experience where appropriate.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), with a current licence to practise and no restrictions that would prevent independent clinical practice.
- Inclusion on the National Performers List (England); confirmation of inclusion is acceptable for DBS verification purposes.
- Where applicable, inclusion on one of the following recognised performers lists:
- Primary Medical Services Performers List (Scotland)
- All Wales Medical Performers List and/or All Wales Locum Register
- Northern Ireland Primary Medical Performers List (PMPL)
- Appropriate and current medical defence indemnity (e.g. MPS, MDU, or equivalent) covering the full scope of general practice work.
- Evidence of current GMC revalidation and compliance with appraisal requirements.
- Evidence of most recent annual appraisal or equivalent supporting documentation.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK, with the right to practice independently as a General Practitioner.
