About the roleWe now have an exciting opportunity for a Governance Officer to support the effective governance of Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) and Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF). Working across the JRF Group, but principally with the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust Board and its sub-committees, you will advise on changes to policy and practice to ensure the highest standards of good governance, including regulatory compliance. You will provide high-quality governance support, ensuring our board and committee meetings are well-planned, effectively run, and accurately documented.
Primary duties include:- Ensuring the smooth running of JRHT governance meetings (including Board meetings and committees), including preparation, effective facilitation, and follow-up, working closely with the chair and leadership team.
- Contributing to the JRF Governance Team to uphold transparency, accountability, and compliance with charitable objectives and regulatory standards across the JRF Group.
You will have excellent knowledge of governance principles, especially related to Registered Housing Providers, Charities, and Companies Limited by Guarantee. You should be able to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, maintain confidentiality, and support governance with professionalism and transparency.
Key requirements include:- Experience working with senior boards and confidence in governance roles.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to produce accurate minutes.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to enhance team services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and meeting pack software.
- Data interpretation and translation skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
