Job Description

Grade A -:£52,737 (National) or £58,409 (London - for London office based or home-based workers within the boundary of the M25)- There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £581 per annum for those working from home.

Contracted Hours:Full time 37 hours per week.Compressed hours will also be considered (minimumof 4 days per week)

Contract Type:12 Month Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity (MaternityCover)

Location:Home oroffice based, flexible location or hybrid working (working 2 days a week fromhome). CQC's offices are in London,Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham and Bristol

At CQC as aGovernanceManagerin theFinance, Commercial & Workplacedirectorate,you might get the chance to:

  • Leadon governance evaluations across the Board and Executive Committees toimprove governance process and practice.
  • Design and embed a refreshed governancestructure that improves how decisions are made across the organisation.

The role
You'll be key in helping usdeliver our work. In this role, you'll:

  • Develop and maintain governance tools: Createand update key documents like the corporate governance framework, schemeof delegation, and standing financial instructions.
  • Support strategic oversight: Helpdesign and implement governance structures that clarify roles,responsibilities, and decision-making processes across CQC.
  • Lead and manage teams: Overseethe Governance and Secretariat functions, supporting colleagues to deliverhigh-quality work that supports the wider organisation.

We'll be looking for the followingskills, knowledge and experience in your application form:

  • Experience leading governance work: You've developed or maintained governance frameworks and tools in a complex organisation, supporting effective decision-making.
  • Ability to manage and support teams: You've led high-performing teams, supported individual development, and delivered results through others.
  • Strong planning and delivery skills: You've managed multiple priorities, delivered high-quality work to tight deadlines, and adapted quickly when things changed.
