We have an exciting opportunity for a Governance & Controls Analyst to join the Business Control Function at Royal London. The role involves working with the 1st line executive and management teams within functions to deliver controls testing and risk and control activities. You will collaborate with the Governance and Controls Managers to execute the controls testing and risk activities as outlined in the annual plan. This includes gathering evidence, conducting workshops, performing control walkthroughs, and producing reports based on the findings.

About the role:
  • Assess the effectiveness of control design and performance, identify weaknesses, evaluate the materiality of findings, and report the results.
  • Report findings to local management and coordinate agreed actions.
  • Conduct assigned tasks such as reviewing risks and controls in risk registers, and gathering evidence on control operations.
  • Compile monthly/quarterly operational risk MI and reports for functions, including root cause analysis of risk events.
  • Maintain processes for controls and risk management within functions, such as risk acceptance, risk events, and escalations.
  • Provide secretarial support for functional risk committees, including preparing papers, taking minutes, and maintaining action logs.
  • Support management in reporting and investigating risk events in line with the Risk Event & Escalation process.
  • Facilitate workshops and conduct walkthrough tests of controls, reporting outcomes to local management and coordinating actions.
  • Participate in functional risk committee meetings to discuss reports and activities.
  • Assist risk and control owners in updating Archer Risk Registers following controls testing and activities.
About you:
  • Experience in controls testing and reporting.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, including with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with risk management systems such as Archer.
  • Good knowledge of FCA/PRA regulations and applicable rules.
  • Understanding of the risk framework and procedures.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in business report writing and presentations.
