Global Marketing Counsel Job Description

This role supports global growth and innovation initiatives for the International Family and Professional Care business. You'll provide commercial legal leadership to marketing, innovation, and compliance teams, ensuring consumer focused product development and advertising is compliant, risk mitigated and brand protective.

Position: Global Marketing Counsel - IFP

Location: Hybrid model (remote / Walton Oaks Office, UK).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal advice to support global marketing, advertising, and product innovation activities from ideation through commercialization, including claims development and substantiation.
  • Partner closely with the Global Growth and Innovation organizations, acting as a trusted advisor and active leader on advertising, marketing and consumer facing legal matters worldwide.
  • Anticipate, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risk to enable business objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Defend, supervise, and manage advertising related claims and disputes, overseeing outside counsel, regulatory inquiries and settlement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with Innovation teams and Intellectual Property Counsel to ensure appropriate protection of intellectual property arising from new products and technologies.
  • Lead and influence cross functional and global legal projects through strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Serve as a key member of the IFP Legal Team, contributing to global legal strategy and governance.
  • Manage and supervise the Supply Chain Counsel, providing guidance, development and performance leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Qualified to practice law with significant previous experience in an international company or law firm.
  • Strong experience advising on marketing, advertising, and regulatory matters, ideally within a global FMCG environment.
  • Fluency in English with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In depth experience supporting innovation driven businesses, including claims development, data privacy and intellectual property protection.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to operate as a trusted business partner in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience within a legal or compliance function.
