WHAT YOU'LL DO

Join Data Platform Engineering, a global platform team transforming our organization into a data-driven enterprise! Working within our Data Layer Team, you will help build essential data platforms, data products, and capabilities to empower both our Case Teams (CTs) , Practice Areas (PAs) and Business systems team with high-quality, actionable insights through data. Our focus is on creating scalable enterprise data solutions and advancing our data infrastructure to drive informed decision-making across the company tied to our AI Strategy.

The Data as a Service Director will serve as the strategic and technical operational leader responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization's data governance framework from the technical platform perspective. In addition, this individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring data integrity, security, compliance, and usability across the enterprise while driving data quality, consistency, and maturity through a robust data asset lifecycle management solution. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, analytics, and business units, the Data as a Service Lead will establish and ensure technical platform governance policies and best practices that align with the organization's strategic goals. This role demands a balance of strategic data vision, operational expertise, architecture-led design and strong communication skills to foster a data-driven culture and ensure regulatory compliance while enabling innovation.

Responsibilities include:
  • Drive an overall vision, roadmap, and priorities for Data a Service framework including supporting BCG's Lighthouse Data as a Service Framework
    • Design, optimize and implement comprehensive data as a service framework that drives organizational goals, automation and data tools for all internal and 3rd party external data.
    • Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and senior leadership to advocate for and execute data as a service policies, controls and priorities.
    • Design, deploy and help operate a Data Mesh layer so data products are consumable across BCG use cases for data products
    • Promote the best-in-class data as a service organization by communicating their benefits and relevance redefining data products.
    • Own roadmap for all 3rd party data contracts, delivery platform, optimization and drive change that makes the organization more effective and AI ready
    • Help define data as a service product that drive GenAI solutions, automation for data science capabilities and moves data as a service to an enterprise offering.
  • Data as a Service Products and Data Operations Management
    • Will own roadmap for helping integrate BCGs data assets, catalog, 3rd party data and building data as a service framework for the end user
    • Use metrics to drive improvements and target focus leveraging ServiceNow platform
    • Build out, design, deploy and update all data as a service metrics across
    • Partner with data catalog, data governance and platform teams to technically improve automation of data products and service capabilities.
  • Budget & Management
    • Manage/partner on all external data contracts including
    • Evolve, manage 3rd party data providers and delivery platform
  • Data Platform Enablement
    • Define and implement standards for integrating data governance capabilities into the enterprise data platform.
    • Ensure the platform supports metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality monitoring.
    • Drive the adoption of platform features that enable scalability, accessibility, and compliance with governance policies.


What You'll Bring

10-12+ years of experience working in data platform and data as a service project roles (e.g. Data Management, Head of Data, CDO Office or Data BI & Analytics team). Prior experience working with Consulting data like benchmarks or 3rd party sources and at a global level

Passion and interest in solving business-oriented data challenges, with demonstrated precision and attention-to-detail

Understanding of data strategy and management concepts and associated business processes and tools, including Data Modelling, Data Warehousing, and Data Quality

Strong customer and business focus with demonstrated ability to form effective working relationships and resolve conflicts

Hands-on experience using Data as a Service tooling such as Data Catalogs, Data products and Data Quality Tools

Solid understanding of Consulting data constructs and domains (e.g. structured and unstructured data), data technologies (e.g., Snowflake; BigQuery; Databricks) and core transactional systems (e.g., SharePoint) in relationship to Data as a service model

The ideal candidate will have a goal-oriented mindset and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver Data as a service capabilities and support exceptional Data Products

Strong communication skills with proven experience in stakeholder engagement (including senior business and technical teams) and the ability to showcase the business benefits of Data Governance.

Bachelor's or higher degree, preferably in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.

  • BCG Global Consulting Practice Areas (Functional & Industry) and Enterprise Data teams: the Data Product Portfolio, Data Governance CoE, Master Data Mgmt., Enterprise Data Modelling, and Data Product development teams
  • BCG IT, Knowledge Team and PA Specific data teams: business intelligence and analytics, operations, and technical teams, among other business functions
  • BCG Leadership: Heads of IT, Consulting / Practice Areas, Knowledge Function, and Enterprise Services among other business functions.
  • The Data Governance network: Data Owners, Stewards, and Data Governance Directors
  • Data Layer Team - Collaborating closely with data engineers, lead enterprise architects, data stewards, data product analysts, and QA engineers to develop, maintain, and enhance BCG's data products and infrastructure.

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

• The base salary range for this role begins at $174000.00 in our lowest cost US region and goes up to $218666.67 in our highest cost US region. Your recruiting contact can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.

In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to XXX% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
