Job Description
Consultant Role - General Surgery (Special Interest in Paediatric Surgery)

Location: Limerick, Ireland

The Role

The Consultant will play a key role in:

  • Providing consultant-level surgical care across general surgery, with a focus on paediatric patients
  • Delivering elective and emergency surgical services
  • Participating in on-call and departmental rotas
  • Supporting service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives
  • Collaborating with paediatricians, anaesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Teaching and mentoring NCHDs, trainees, and junior colleagues
Consultant Salary & Benefits
  • €235,000+ - €283,000+ (2026 HSE Public Only Consultant Contract)

Eligibility

Applicants must have:

  • Registration in the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council (in process or active)
  • One-year certified postgraduate fellowship training in Paediatric Surgery
  • 3+ years of experience
