General Practitioner (GP) - Validation of Category 2 Ambulances

We are seeking experienced General Practitioners to join an innovative urgent care initiative supporting the validation of Category 2 ambulance dispositions generated by NHS 111. Based onsite at Care Co, Taunton, you will collaborate with paramedic colleagues to clinically review and validate NHS 111 Category 2 ambulance cases. Your input will directly influence resource optimisation, ensuring patient safety and improving the efficiency of emergency response systems.
This is a self-employed, independent engagement, offering flexibility across 7-day operations with shifts available between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the right level of care while helping to reduce unnecessary ambulance dispatches.
Main duties of the jobClinically assess NHS 111 Category 2 ambulance dispositions and determine the most appropriate next steps for each case.
Liaise with onsite paramedics and support teams to ensure effective communication and coordinated patient management.
Exercise independent clinical judgment to stand down or downgrade ambulance responses where appropriate.
Maintain accurate, concise clinical documentation in accordance with governance and quality standards.
Contribute to continuous service improvement, operational safety, and effective patient flow across urgent care pathways.

Job responsibilitiesEssential requirements include:
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and on GP Register.
- Annual Appraisal and Revalidation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Availability to work onsite at Care Co, Taunton.
Professional indemnity cover suitable for self-employed engagements.
Person Specification- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
