We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Bullingdon, a Category B remand Prison located in Oxfordshire.
HMP Bullingdon houses around 1150 patients aged 18+. This role is suitable for a GP with particular interest in delivering end to end care in long term conditions, substance misuse or mental health. The site offers a 24/7 healthcare service; as part of the role you will complete ward rounds on a 21 bed inpatient unit with a high level of elderly care, and complete evening receptions.
Hours12 hours per week
Monday to Saturday
- Morning: 08:00 - 12:00
- Afternoon: 13:00 - 17:00
- Evening: 18:00 - 22:00
You must be able to work one evening session per week and two Saturdays per month. There will be an opportunity to increase the hours in the future.
SalaryYou'll receive an annual salary up to £130,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

As a General Practitioner you will:
- Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn't normally experience within a general practice or A&E environment.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team and to patients, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways. Including prescribing for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.
You will;
- Provide medical leadership and expert advice, regarding medical and primary care issues to the wider healthcare team; engaging with the Practice Plus Group wellbeing approach.
- Deliver effective patient care developing high levels of communication with patients; identifying and utilising evidence based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines; undertaking appropriate clinical audit to improve clinical outcomes.
- Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team; working with the wider team to ensure effective clinical governance is incorporated into day to day practice.
- Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes in place for managing results, letters, and tasks; undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks.
- Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with all team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or clinical case reviews.
Essential:
