Job Description
Introduction

We are recruiting a 4 session (2 day) Salaried GP to join our well organised, digitally progressive practice on the Swansea Waterfront, with an intended start of May 2026 (flexible by agreement).

We prioritise sustainable workload and protected GP time, offering structured sessions with built in administrative time, a sensible duty system and minimal home visits (supported by our Cluster Paramedic service).

We use modern systems including Accurx, AskMyGP, workflow based document management and AI assisted transcription to reduce administrative burden.

Our aim is simple: maximise clinical focus and minimise unnecessary admin.

Main duties of the job

4 sessions per week (typically over 2 days). Provide high quality, patient centred care to registered and temporary patients. Mix of face to face, telephone and digital consultations. Participation in agreed rota, including duty sessions within contracted hours. Review and action clinical correspondence, results and administrative tasks within allocated sessional time. Contribute to clinical governance, audit, significant event analysis and appraisal requirements. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient patient care. No out of hours requirement.

The post holder will report to the Lead GP and Practice Manager and will be supported in maintaining appraisal and revalidation requirements.

Job responsibilities

Overview

Harbourside Health Centre is recruiting a 4 session (2 day) Salaried General Practitioner with an intended start date of May 2026 (flexible by agreement).

The post holder will work as part of a supportive, digitally progressive primary care team delivering high quality, patient centred care. The role is structured to promote sustainable workload, protected clinical time and efficient systems of working.

The post holder will report to the Lead GP and Practice Manager.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, patient centred primary medical care to registered and temporary patients
  • Undertake face to face, telephone and digital consultations
  • Participate in the agreed practice rota, including duty sessions within contracted hours
  • Assess, diagnose, treat and manage a broad range of medical conditions
  • Prescribe safely and cost effectively in line with local and national guidance
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Review and action laboratory results, correspondence and electronic workflow tasks within allocated sessional time
  • Complete referrals, medical reports and other clinical documentation as required
  • Contribute to the safe and efficient management of clinical workload

Administrative time is built into sessional structure.

Clinical Governance & Professional Standards
  • Participate in clinical governance activities including audit, significant event analysis and quality improvement
  • Comply with GMC Good Medical Practice
  • Maintain inclusion on the NHS Wales Performers List
  • Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation

Person Specification Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to travel between practice sites in a timely manner
  • Commitment to collaborative team working and professional conduct

  • Interest in service development or quality improvement initiatives
  • Willingness to develop portfolio interests aligned with practice needs
  • Experience using digital consultation or workflow systems
Qualifications
  • MRCGP (or equivalent)
  • Fully registered with the General Medical Council
  • Inclusion on the NHS Wales Performers List (or eligible to join)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Evidence of additional clinical interests (e.g. joint injections, minor surgery, women's health)
  • Postgraduate certificates or diplomas relevant to primary care
  • Level 3 safeguarding (adults and children)
Experience
  • Experience working as a GP in UK primary care
  • Ability to manage a broad range of clinical presentations independently
  • Experience of using electronic clinical systems
  • Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of digital consultation systems
  • Experience contributing to audit or quality improvement projects
  • Experience supervising or teaching trainees or students
