General Labourer

Location: London & surrounding areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Typical Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions, we deliver high-quality, sustainable geotechnical and groundwork services that support safe and efficient infrastructure projects. We're looking for a reliable, hardworking Labourer to support mobilisation, excavation, and reinstatement (MER) works on site.

This is a practical, outdoor role where you'll work closely with experienced teams, gain hands on experience, and develop your skills in construction and groundwork.

What you'll do

In this role, you'll assist site teams to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

  • Support mobilisation of tools, equipment, and materials to and from site
  • Prepare worksites, including clearing areas, setting up barriers, signage, and access
  • Assist with excavation works, including manual digging and material handling
  • Support reinstatement works such as backfilling, compaction, and finishing
  • Operate basic tools and equipment, including compactors, shovels, and wheelbarrows
  • Help maintain safe, clean, and organised sites
  • Follow HSE procedures, RAMS, and all site safety requirements
  • Attend toolbox talks and daily safety briefings

What we're looking for
  • Experience in general labouring, groundwork, or construction
  • Basic knowledge of excavation and reinstatement works
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic equipment safely
  • Good understanding of health & safety on construction site
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weatherS
  • CSCS card
Desirable
  • Experience with reinstatement, paving, tarmacking, or landscaping
  • Experience operating small plant or machinery
  • First Aid or other relevant safety qualifications
