About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Furniture Sprayer to support our business on a flexible, part-time consultancy basis. This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional who wants to utilise their expertise without committing to a full-time position.

Initially, the successful candidate will help us establish and optimise a new spray finishing operation, including advising on the setup of a spray booth, equipment selection, workflow design, and finishing processes. Once operational, the role will continue on a part-time basis, providing hands on spraying support, staff training, and ongoing guidance to maintain exceptional finishing standards.

The number of hours worked will vary according to business needs and can be tailored to suit the successful candidate's availability.

Key Responsibilities Consultancy & Spray Booth Setup
  • Advise on the design, layout, and setup of a new spray booth.
  • Recommend suitable equipment, materials, coatings, and finishing systems.
  • Develop efficient spraying workflows and quality standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of safe working practices and operating procedures.
  • Help establish a professional and scalable finishing operation.
Furniture Spraying
  • Prepare furniture and joinery items for finishing.
  • Apply paints, lacquers, stains, varnishes, and specialist coatings.
  • Carry out spraying work to a consistently high standard.
  • Perform quality checks and rectify finishing defects where required.
  • Maintain and care for spraying equipment.
Training & Development
  • Train team members in furniture spraying and finishing techniques.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best-practice guidance.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to improve skills and consistency.
  • Support the development of an in-house finishing team.
What We're Looking For Essential Experience
  • Proven experience as a furniture sprayer, wood finisher, or joinery finisher.
  • Strong knowledge of spray booth operations and spraying equipment.
  • Experience achieving high-quality commercial or bespoke furniture finishes.
  • Ability to train and mentor others effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within a spray environment.
Desirable
  • Experience setting up spray booths or finishing facilities.
  • Knowledge of water-based and solvent-based coating systems.
  • Experience writing operating procedures or training materials.
  • Relevant health and safety qualifications.
