Job Overview

Meta-Skills is seeking a talented and experienced Full Stack Developer to join our passionate team. This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in backend development, complemented by solid frontend abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing scalable web applications, enhancing our backend infrastructure, ensuring rigorous testing protocols, and actively contributing to frontend development. You will be instrumental in evolving our interactive e-learning app, data visualization dashboards, and public-facing websites.

Practical Details

• The candidate must reside in The Netherlands; visa sponsorship is possible.
• Full-time position offering complete flexibility for remote work.
• Optional opportunity to work 1-2 days per week from Utrecht or Amsterdam office spaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js/TypeScript, Express, and PostgreSQL.
• Design and build efficient, scalable, and maintainable codebases with clear structure.
• Contribute actively to frontend development and UI/UX refinement when necessary.
• Ensure high-quality deliverables through rigorous tests, test-driven approaches where applicable, promoting manual and automated testing.
• Collaborate closely with other developers to ensure seamless integration.
• Own the complete software development lifecycle, with heavy focus on understanding customer/user needs, co-designing solutions, not just implementation but also validation; and on the other side also including deployment processes and containerization strategies.
• Stay curious and engaged with emerging technologies, proactively recommending and evaluating new approaches and tools.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of proven experience as a Full Stack Developer.
• Solid backend development experience using Node.js/TypeScript, Express, and PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, and other modern software engineering tools.
• Frontend experience, ideally with Svelte, or willingness to quickly learn it.
• Solid understanding and experience in writing unit and integration tests.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively engaging in remote team environments.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning and exploring new technologies.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Figma and Storybook for collaborative design and development.
• Familiarity with the problem space of web application scalability.
• Previous experience working in cross-functional or agile teams.
• Experience with AI tools: knowing when to use them and what the limitations are.
