Description
A global industrial organization is currently undergoing a major transformation of its enterprise network landscape, aimed at modernizing core infrastructure, improving global connectivity, and strengthening network security.The mission is part of a broader effort to standardize global IT infrastructure, reduce technical debt, and ensure high availability and resilience of critical systems while meeting strict security requirements. The Freelance Project Manager will play a central role in coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver this roadmap efficiently and securely.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end project management of complex infrastructure initiatives involving network modernization, firewall upgrades, and network security enhancements.
- Align scope, timelines, and resources across Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Security, and Operations teams.
- Manage a portfolio of sub-projects, including firewall migration (Palo Alto, Fortinet), SD-WAN rollout, network segmentation, and global site connectivity.
- Collaborate with internal security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to enterprise cybersecurity policies.
- Coordinate third-party integrators and service providers for hardware, configuration, and managed services delivery.
- Plan and oversee change management, testing phases, cutovers, and rollback strategies with minimal impact to production systems.
- Lead recurring steering meetings, status reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication across business and technical domains.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation, issue tracking, and ensure project governance compliance.
- Contribute to standard operating procedures and knowledge transfer to internal IT teams.
Requirements for the Candidate
Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of Project Management experience in IT Infrastructure, with a strong focus on networking and security-related initiatives.
- Proven track record delivering multi-site or global network transformation projects.
- Hands-on exposure to large-scale firewall migration or replacement projects is highly desirable.
- Experience working in structured environments with formal project governance (Agile or Hybrid Agile/Waterfall).
- Experience in industrial or logistics environments with a high number of remote locations or warehouses.
- Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or AgilePM, as well as network/security certifications (e.g., CCNP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE).
Technology Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN architectures, SD-WAN, network segmentation, and routing/switching protocols.
- Familiarity with enterprise firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco Firepower.
- Basic knowledge of VPNs, NAC, IDS/IPS, Zero Trust, and overall network security best practices.
- Competence in using project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Confluence, or similar).
