Freelance DevOps Engineer - Fintech Sector (Ghent, Belgium)

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Freelance DevOps Engineer to support a fast-growing fintech company in Ghent. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure to support innovative financial products and services.

Contract Details

• Location: Ghent, Belgium (Remote/hybrid work options available)
• Contract Type: Freelance / Contractor
• Duration: 6 months with potential extension
• Rate: Competitive hourly rate, negotiable based on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and reliable software delivery.
• Maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with a focus on security and scalability.
• Collaborate with development and security teams to enforce best practices and compliance with financial regulations.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Monitor systems and respond promptly to incidents to minimize downtime.
• Implement container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations on DevOps tooling and workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, preferably in fintech or financial services.
• Strong proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Skilled in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
