About the Role
As a Firmware Engineer, you'll be involved across the full product lifecycle-from initial concept through design, delivery, and ongoing support. You'll work with high-performance FPGAs (primarily Altera), developing code in VHDL and contributing to the complete design of secure, high-bandwidth appliances.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for engineers who thrive in technically demanding environments and are eager to solve complex challenges that matter. You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team that includes experts in embedded software, power distribution, thermal management, and PCB design.
What You'll Need
- Strong experience with VHDL development for FPGAs
- Familiarity with at least one modern FPGA toolchain (e.g., Altera, Xilinx, Achronix)
- Experience with high-bandwidth data processing and interfaces (e.g., networking, DRAMs)
- A solid understanding of secure appliance design
- Awareness or experience with hardware design principles
- Strong task planning and communication skills
Eligibility Requirements
Due to the nature of the projects, you must be a UK national or meet the eligibility requirements for UK security clearance. Regular remote working cannot be offered for this role, but flexible working arrangements are supported.
