Job Description 2-3 months contract with a local authority
Summary:
  • The Food Safety Team Leader is responsible for the operational leadership and management of the Food Safety Team, ensuring the effective delivery of all statutory food law enforcement functions and regulatory services
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, manage, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team, including Principal Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers, Assistant Enforcement Officers, and support staff.
  • Provide professional supervision, guidance, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Allocate workloads and monitor service delivery to ensure statutory obligations and performance targets are achieved.
  • Conduct staff performance management, appraisals, objective setting, and development reviews.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and high professional standards.
Requirements: Essential Experience Required:
  • Extensive and current experience regulating food safety within a local authority environment.
  • Significant experience undertaking food hygiene and food standards inspections and enforcement activities.
  • Experience managing complex food safety investigations and enforcement cases.
  • Experience leading, supervising, or managing regulatory services staff.
Essential Qualifications Required:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
  • Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate or equivalent qualification required to practice as an Environmental Health Officer.
  • Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or equivalent professional body.
  • Qualification meeting the Food Law Code of Practice competency requirements.
