Job Description

Metis Consultants Limited is a Civil and Environmental Engineering Consultancy, based in Richmond, London. We work with a wide range of UK clients, and consequently have an extremely healthy pipeline with numerous exciting opportunities. We are therefore looking for a Flood Risk Consultant who has a passion for flood risk management, and experience in the delivery of the statutory duties of a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), to join our Water Engineering team.

This Metis team specialises in Flood Risk Management support for Local Authorities, and has developed a reputation among our clients for delivering excellent levels of service. As a result, we pride ourselves on our strong client relationships, and are respected 'critical friends' to many organisations. Our Water Engineering team works closely with several LLFAs, including in-house roles, strategic and policy projects, modelling and feasibility studies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design work.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player who can work collaboratively across teams, as our culture thrives on agility and innovation. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of LLFA, SuDS, planning policy and the review of planning applications.

About You:

Our Flood Risk Consultant will have:

  • A thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority. Experience of working with LLFAs is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant flood risk policy (Flood and Water Management Act, National Planning Policy Framework etc)
  • A thorough understanding, and experience in the delivery of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Experience in the delivery and execution of relevant local policies and strategies, including Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, Section 19 Investigations
  • Experience of reviewing flood risk / drainage elements of planning applications in accordance with relevant national and local policy
  • Experience of project management. A proven ability to deliver projects to time and budget
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015. Site experience is preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience using GIS software
Salary and Package

The salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications/experience. The package includes pension, eligibility for private medical cover and flexible working in our offices in central Richmond, South-West London.
