Job Description

My client, a specialist UK-based Engineering Consultancy focusing on Sustainability, Civil, and Structural Engineering, is seeking a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join their established team in York.

Applicants should have a strong academic background in a relevant discipline, including a BSc and/or MSc in Civil Engineering, and experience working for a UK-based Consultancy or Local Authority. Experience should include completing Flood Risk Assessments, Surface Water Management Plans, Surface Water Drainage Strategies, and SuDS Designs using Infodrainage or Flow.

It is advantageous for applicants to reside locally and have experience with river restoration, watercourse diversions, or nutrient neutrality/pollution projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse Flood Risk, Surface Water, Drainage, Aviation, and Renewable Energy Projects for Private Sector Clients, Local Authorities, and Housing Developers. Candidates will also have the chance to engage in river restoration, watercourse diversions, and flood alleviation works.

Support will be provided for the following:

  1. Flood Risk Assessments for flood zones 1, 2, and 3.
  2. Surface Water Management Plans.
  3. Surface Water and Foul Drainage Strategies.
  4. Flood Risk Mapping.
  5. Detailed Residential Drainage and Sewerage Design using Flow and Microdrainage for residential, commercial, mixed-use development, and airport projects.
  6. Drainage Area Planning.
