(EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations. Reporting to the Manager of Logistics & Materials Management, the System Support Vehicle Transporter (Runner) is a key part of the System Support team that provides vehicle movement pertaining to system vehicle repair, maintenance and other duties as assigned.The "Runner" is expected to conduct him/herself in a safe and prudent manner. The Runner will be largely responsible to ensure ambulances are transported to the designated fleet centers and/or stations as assigned. The Runner is a casual position and is on an on-call basis and will take direction from the Manager, Logistics & Materials Management or designate. This position can be cross-trained as a System Support Technician on an individual voluntary basis and utilized in the Fleet Centre's to provide shift back-fill for vacations, medical leaves and operational requirement.As an employee of EMC, we are accountable to our patients and coworkers by participating in and supporting all safety related initiatives, as well as acting in a manner that fosters a culture that focuses on patient safety and a safe workplace. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The position entails but is not limited to the following: Transport ambulances to designated fleet centers and/or stations, as assigned. Ensure vehicles that are transported to bases are washed down of road debris. Interact professionally at all times with EMC and EHS stakeholders. Operate all system and company vehicles in accordance with Nova Scotia laws as well as all applicable Policies and Procedures and Safe Work Practices of EMC and EHS. Any other duties assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience Complete and Retain a Nova Scotia Class 4 Driver's License (in good standing order) System Support Vehicle Transporter Runner) Page 1 of2 Acquire and maintain certification in WHMIS. Successfully complete the EMC Driving Safety Program. Successful completion of orientation program as defined for the role specific to Safety Programs including PPE and Safe Work Practice Policies.
